Kota Ambon, also referred to as the City of Ambon, holds the prestigious title of being the capital and the largest city within Maluku Province, Indonesia. Renowned for its captivating beauty, Ambon is affectionately called ‘Ambon Manise,’ a name that translates to ‘beautiful’ or ‘pretty’ Ambon. Encompassing an expansive land area of approximately 360 square kilometers, this vibrant city boasts a population of around 350 thousand residents. The easiest way to Ambon is to land at the Pattimura International Airport. Garuda, Lion, Citilink and Batik Air operate regular flights Jakarta – Makassar – Ambon.
Taxis are located outside the terminal and are unmarked cars and vans. There are no marked/metered taxis in Ambon. There are always plenty of drivers anxious to take you anywhere you want to go. The drive around the bay to the city takes about 45 minutes and costs Rp 150,000 – Rp 200,000.
